Our Company
For over 300 years my family has lived in the mountains surrounding Ecuador’s Avenue of Volcanoes and Cotopaxi.Tours is the culmination of generations of adventurers in my family who have explored every lake, glacier, mountain and peak.
In the 1980s, my father Pedro Cumbajín worked at the Cotopaxi refuge, he was the first mountain guide who led climbers to the top of one of the highest active volcanoes on the planet, when he was a child playing in the refuge, I learned by my father’s side, to walk on the glacier and to love the mountains.
After more than a dozen years as a mountain guide, I have climbed these mountains more than 1,000 times. Finally, I realized my father’s dream of creating a tour company that would bring adventurers from all continents to the playground of my hometown. My wife, Janeth and I opened and founded Cotopaxi.Tours in 2020.
Since we established our Hotel on an empty lot in Machachi, we have enlarged several times with new accommodation, a new restaurant and new cabins with rooms of all kinds. Our tour offerings have also expanded to include biking tours, horseback riding and multi-day hikes around these glorious mountains. We offer a wide variety of experiences and challenges at every skill level and can customize your trip to meet your specific needs.
Whether you’re looking for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure in a little-discovered country or the chance to push yourself to be the best, let us share our love and knowledge of these wondrous mountains with you.
