Due to its proximity to the city of Quito, in less than 1 hour you can get close to the base by cable car, which makes it a favorite place for mountain tourism. This volcano is ideal to start with acclimatization processes at altitude. “Rucu” means old.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1

Quito (2,800 m) – Summit of the Rucu Pichincha Volcano (4,696 m) – Return to Quito

Detailed Itinerary

We will leave from the city of Quito in the morning at 08:00 because it is a volcano that is close to Quito, reaching the Cable Car 3,300 m and later to the parking lot will take less than 1 hour by private vehicle. From here we will travel in the cable car, one of the highest in the world, for 15 minutes to the beginning of the trail (4,100 m). From this point we will follow the path that will take us to the base and after crossing sandy terrain we will reach the summit that measures 4,696 m. Estimated time of the walk approximately 5 hours and in the afternoon return to the city of Quito.
