Basic level trekking in the heart of the Cotopaxi National Park.
The Cotopaxi National Park has several alternative activities, among the most important is trekking, where you can enjoy impressive views of several volcanoes and for its pesto of the Cotopaxi Volcano, flora and fauna is what prevails in the following hiking and hiking routes.

Quito (2,800 m) – Cotopaxi Camping Area (3,780 m)
Day 2
Cotopaxi Camping Area (3,780 m)- Cotopaxi Volcano Glacier (5,000 m) – Return Quito
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Quito (2,800 m) – Cotopaxi Camping Area (3,780 m)
We start our trip in the morning from Quito, we will change direction to the east for a rural road, it will take about two hours to reach the “Camping Zone” (3,780m) and in the Cotopaxi National Park we will leave our things and we will take only what is necessary to go on a walk to the Limpiopungo Lagoon (3,830m).
The walk begins in the camping area, we will enjoy the páramos and beautiful landscapes of the Andes, we will be able to observe some wild animals and some volcanoes: Cotopaxi, Antisana, Chimborazo, Sincholagua, it will take about 4 hours to walk around the lagoon, we have box lunch for the walk. We return to the camping area, where we will set up our tents and prepare dinner and rest until the next day, overnight in tents.
Day 2: Cotopaxi Camping Area (3,780 m)- Cotopaxi Volcano Glacier (5,000 m) – Return Quito
We have breakfast around 08:00 am, we will prepare our luggage to visit the José Rivas refuge and the Cotopaxi glacier. We are going to leave the “Camping Zone” at 09:00 am and we will continue in our car and in less than an hour we will arrive at the parking lot (4,500m) from here we will walk and in approximately 1 hour we will arrive at the José Rivas refuge (4,800m) rest and then we will enjoy our box lunch, if time permits, we can continue towards the Cotopaxi glacier (5,000m) and in the afternoon return to Quito.
