The Sincholagua is located on the northeastern limit of the Cotopaxi National Park, it is an extinct and inactive volcano, because it is a mountain with difficult access, its summit is less known and is visited much less frequently compared to other mountains in Ecuador.

The ascent can be done in 1 full day from Quito and the climb consists of grassland and eroded rock to finally climb a section of 20 meters and reach the summit. This páramo has a wild environment with many possibilities to see wild animals and impressive views of many Vocals such as: Cotopaxi, Antisana Rumiñahi among others.

Day 1

Quito (2,800 m) – Summit of the Sincholagua Volcano (4,919 m) – Return to Quito

Detailed Itinerary

We will start very early in Quito at 05:00 am, we will go south along the Avenida de los Volcanes for approximately 2 hours in our private 4×4 transport to the Pita River bridge, later we will approach the vehicular access called the “Antenas” here We will leave our car, we will take what is necessary for the climb, we will start by pajonales and unstable volcanic rock, we will admire the beauty of the páramo and all the environment that surrounds us and many surrounding mountains such as Cotopaxi, Antisana, Rumiñahui among others, reach the summit The Sincholagua Volcano, which measures 4,919 meters, will take us approximately 6 hours, but without first climbing a steep part of 20 meters, already at the summit we will enjoy our box lunch and the impressive views that surround us, after many photos we will return by the same way to our transport, it will take us approximately 2 hours and at night we return to Quito.
