The Carihuairazo Volcano is a mountain that is highly climbed by people with or without experience in mountaineering. It is a relatively easy climb that allows good acclimatization to climb higher and more difficult volcanoes.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Quito (2,800 m) – Carihuairazo Refuge (4,200 m)
Our adventure begins in the city of Quito, we will drive along the Pan-American highway in a southerly direction for about 3 hours to the city of Ambato, here we will have lunch, then we will continue for 1 more hour until we reach the Carihuairazo refuge located at 4,200m. Here we will settle in and organize and we will rest until dinner that will be served at 6:00 p.m. and then go to sleep until the next day.
Day 2: Carihuairazo Refuge (4,200 m)- Summit of the Carihuairazo Volcano (5,018 m) – Return Quito
We will wake up at 02:00 for breakfast and after packing we will take our car for 30 minutes until we reach the beginning of the trail, here we will hike through the Andean páramo for approximately 4 hours until we reach the base of the mountain, After a well-deserved rest and appreciating the spectacular view of Chimborazo and with the glacier equipment ready, a 1-hour walk and climb awaits us until we reach the summit of the Carihuairazo Volcano, which measures 5,018 m. After several photos, the descent will You will do the same route in 2 hours until you get to the car, then to the shelter to pack and return to Quito.
