Cayambe is the third highest elevation in Ecuador, its glacier and climate make it ideal for achieving objectives and challenges for climbers with or without experience, it is the only high mountain that is crossed by the equatorial line or parallel 0°, that is, located on the half of the world.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1

Quito (2,800 m) – Rúales Oleas Berge Refuge (4,700 m)

Day 2

Rúales Oleas Berge Refuge – Summit of the Cayambe Volcano (5,790 m) – Return to Quito

Detailed Itinerary

Our adventure begins in the city of Quito at 10:00 a.m. heading north until we reach the city of Cayambe where we will have lunch and with energy we will continue for 2 more hours in our 4×4 transport, until we reach the Ruales Oleas Refuge. Berge located at 4,700m. Dinner will be served around 6:00 p.m. and then rest until before midnight.

Our day begins at 11:00 p.m. After packing, a light breakfast awaits us and within 1 hour we will leave for the top, the route takes approximately 2 hours to reach the glacier and 4 more hours to the summit. without first going through several slopes and some cracks, already at the summit we will be delighted with beautiful views of many volcanoes among them: El cotopax, Antisana etc… He returned by the same route and will do it in 3 hours, already in the refuge we will pack and return to Quito.
