The Ilinizas constitute two twin mountains, Iliniza Norte with 5,126 m and Iliniza Sur with 5,300 m. In this case, Iliniza Norte is a rocky peak that is rarely covered in snow and is lower in elevation. Its ascent requires technical mountain equipment and by a professional guide, this mountain is part of the so-called Avenue of the 9 Volcanoes in the Machachi valley.
